Land Use Planning Assistant
Lola (aka Laura) is one of my favorite humans.
She is my cousin, friend, sister and one of my closest confidants. I’ve known her my entire life and feel so lucky to be able to say that she more like a sister than a cousin. She is fiercely loyal, beyond intelligent and always so kind. She is one of those people that you can tell are meant to be a Mama and she is going to be a damn good one.
Every year our families plan a trip to Gordon Bay provincial campground (my favorite place on Earth). The reason this trip is so special is because everyone is there, all together.
When we were younger, we used to spend hours upon hours doing the “wallet trick”. We’d tie fishing line to a big black wallet, some of us would hide in the bushes and others would help with bating the next poor victim. When said victim would reach down to grab the wallet, we’d pull the string and watch with anticipation as they would scramble with fright. We’d somehow never get tired of this game and laugh just as hard, if not harder, every single time someone would fall for our little trick.
It’s memories like this that I look back on and feel nothing but gratitude.

Those who are self-centered and those who are altruistic.
As you get older, what are you becoming more afraid of?
This next generation of children growing up in a world so full so social media, and all the mental anxiety that has been proven to come along with it. I just want girl and boys to grow up appreciating their bodies for what they can do and not comparing themselves to these flawless fake images they see everywhere. I know how much it affects me even as an adult and I just hate to think about the younger generations growing up with more and more of those influences all around them

What makes a good life?
Quality time with quality people!
What advice would you give yourself 10 years ago?
Don’t be afraid to let go of friendships that aren’t what they used to be. People change, you’ll change – you can move on and still treasure the good memories you had. Spend more money on experiences than things, they’re way more fun and memorable.
What are the top three things you want to accomplish before you die?
Get married, have or adopt a baby, travel somewhere new every year (near or far).
What is your favourite quote?
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind”
